Born in Berkeley, California on December 8, 1942, Carol Hunt attended Regis College in Weston MA and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
Hunt's work is centered on the spirit of abstraction, on the self-revelation of the painting itself. She works quickly, in sweeps of brushwork and color; this is particularly evident in her watercolors, in which ink and pencil are mixed. Hunt's abstracts reflect the mystery of the moment in which maker, tools, and materials are in dialogue on the canvas.
