Joe Fiore - Erie

PAST EXHIBITION:
THREE FROM MAINE:
Lynne Drexler, Joseph Fiore & William Manning

April 5th - May 26th, 2007
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 12th, 6-8PM

Lynne Drexler, Joseph Fiore, and William Manning are three abstract artists whose work was inspired by the atmosphere and landscape of Maine. William Manning represents one of few native-born artists from Maine and is among the first Maine artists whose work is totally abstract. His bold, colorful paintings visually recreate the atmospheric details and rhythms on Monhegan Island. Lynne Drexler was born in Virginia, lived in New York, and also found inspiration on Monhegan Island, where she lived until her death. In this exhibition we are exhibiting her unique works of patterned fabrics and vibrant color combining to form abstract recreations of Maine’s landscape. Joseph Fiore’s work developed a subtle pictographic style inspired by his time spent in Maine each year. His paintings are primarily abstract with delicate references to images inspired by nature and imagination. These artists have their own distinct styles which have a purity that came from the solitude of their environment in Maine.
