Erik Adriaan van der Grijn was born in the Netherlands in 1941. He obtained his degree from the Royal College of Art in the Hague. He has lived and worked for more than two decades in Ireland, and lived in Belgium as well as Holland. Since 1995, van der Grijn has split his time between the United States and Latin America.
Over the years, van der Grijn's art has been cherished by private collectors, museums, multinational corporations and universities in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. Concrete art, Minimalism, Conceptual art and "Hard-Edge Realism" (a category propounded by the artist himself in 1976) and mainly Abstract Expressionism were incorporated into his body of work during the course of his career.
